Mystical Meghalaya

Meghalaya, known for its clouds and rainfall is a tiny state in North-East India sandwiched between Assam and Bangladesh. Also known as the “Abode of Clouds," the state has plenty to offer to an avid traveler.

The undulating mountains, living root bridges, spectacular crystal-clear lakes, meandering rivers, dense verdant forests, gorgeous waterfalls, quaint caves, exotic flora, and fauna - all of these make Meghalaya look like straight out of a fairy tale. Meghalaya is dotted with copious waterfalls, some gushing from great heights and some gurgling gently over moss-green rocks. Sit by the plunge nature pool of the gigantic waterfall and breathe in the ethereal ambiance of the environment.

We take you to some of the untouched, less-explored, and seriously fascinating territories that will take your breath away.

DAY 01 | GUWAHATI – SHILLONG (-/-/-)

• Arrive at Guwahati's Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport (GAU) and transfer to Shillong.
• Umiam Lake & Umiam Viewpoint
• Relax rest of the day

DAY 02 | SHILLONG & AROUND (B/-/-) 

• Don Bosco Museum
• Laitlum Canyons 

DAY 03 | SHILLONG - DAWKI - HIDDEN VILLAGE (B/-/D)

• Boat ride at the crystal clear waters of Umngot River 
• Visit the India-Bangladesh Border
• Visit the hidden village where we explore, and connect with locals (We keep this village name a secret, preserving its charm as a hidden, untouristed gem known only to locals.)
• Enjoy an overnight stay in a charming village home in the hidden village.

DAY 04 | MAWLYNNONG - CHERRAPUNJI (B/-/D) 

• Explore the village of Mawlynnong, supposedly “the Cleanest Village in Asia”
• Riwai's Living Root Bridge
• Visit Bangladesh Viewpoint
• Zip-lining

DAY 05 | DOUBLE DECKER LIVING ROOT BRIDGE TREK (B/-/D)

• A climb down of about 3000 steps into the valley takes us to the famous Umshiang Double-Decker Living Root Bridge
• Further hike of about 1½ hours leads to the picture-perfect Rainbow Falls
• The end of the day is a tough ascend to Tyrna village.

DAY 06 | CHERRAPUNJI - MAWPHLANG - SHILLONG (B/-/-)

• Noh-Ka-Likai falls – the World’s fourth-tallest waterfalls
• Wei Sawdong Waterfalls, if open
• Arwah/Mawsmai caves
• Walk through the dense Mawphlang Sacred Forest for about an hour.

DAY 07 | DEPART (B/-/-)

• We bid good-bye to each other & head back home with sweet memories! Trip ends.

Pick-up/drop-off at Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, Guwahati.

Please arrive by 11:00 AM on the start date (Airport pick-up at 12:00 PM) and schedule your return flight for after 5:00 PM (Airport drop-off at 3:00 PM) on the end date.

You can stay back a day or two in Guwahati and explore the city. It is home to the famous Kamakhya Temple (one of the 51 Shakti Peethas), Umananda Island Temple, and many other attractions.

There’s nothing like a boat cruise to set the tone for an amazing night in the Brahmaputra River. There are many other interesting things to do around Guwahati.

• Suitable for members between the age group of 16-55 years. Generally, the majority of our participants are between the age group of 20-35 years.

INCLUSIONS

• Accommodation for 6 nights in Home-stays/Hotels on Twin/Double/Triple Sharing Basis. 
• 6 Breakfast & 3 Dinner (Set Menu). The meal starts with Breakfast on the 2nd Day and ends with Breakfast on the 7th Day, as mentioned in the itinerary.
• Group airport transfer for arrival and departure from/to Guwahati airport. If your flight arrival is at a different time from the others, extra charges will be applicable.
• Local sightseeing/transfers by a Toyota Innova or Tempo Traveler or a similar vehicle depending on the number of participants.
• Exclusive vehicle for the entire trip from Day 1 to Day 7, but not at disposal.
• Entry tickets to the places of interest
• Services of WANDERING SARATHY who personally leads the group and doubles as a storyteller
• Permits, Toll Taxes, Parking Charges
• Services of the Local Guide, wherever required.

EXCLUSIONS

• Airfare/Train fare from your hometown to Guwahati & return
• Food/Snacks other than mentioned above. We’ll be having lunch at hygienic local restaurants which are generally inexpensive (own expense).
• 5% GST
• Camera charges
• Activity charges i.e, zip-lining, boating, cliff jumping, kayaking, etc.
• Additional requests, orders, and services availed in the hotel/homestay
• Use of transport for personal use and beyond the designated trip route. 
• Additional costs arising due to mishaps, political unrest, natural calamities like landslides, road blockage, etc. In such a case, extra will have to be paid on the spot by the guests directly.
• Personal expenses such as laundry, bottled water, soft drinks, incidentals, porter charges, tips, medicines, etc.
• Any item not specified in the ‘Inclusions’.
