AAYUBOWAN! Great many things have been said about Sri Lanka. The Arabs called it Serendib from which originated that lovely English word – “Serendipity” that so wonderfully describes the occurrence of events by a happy coincidence. Marco Polo described Sri Lanka, then known as Ceylon, as being “for its size, better circumstanced than any island in the World”.
Endless palm-lined beaches, famed ancient Buddhist ruins, cooler mountainous terrain punctuated with waterfalls, vivid green tea plantations, oodles of elephants, friendly and welcoming people, delectable food, all make Sri Lanka irresistible.
Come experience and enjoy Sri Lanka with us!
DAY 1 | Colombo – Pinnawala – Sigiriya
Welcome to Sri Lanka! After landing in Colombo, we head straight into the heart of the island. First stop: Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage, where rescued elephants bathe and play in the river. It's a heart-melting sight and the perfect way to start the adventure. We continue to Sigiriya for our overnight stay amidst the jungles.
DAY 2 | Sigiriya – Dambulla
We rise early to climb the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, known as ‘Lion Rock’. It’s a bit of a stairmaster challenge, but every step rewards you with surreal views and ancient marvels. After lunch, we head to the Dambulla Cave Temple, where intricate murals and Buddha statues await inside cool, sacred caves. A perfect blend of history and serenity.
DAY 3 | Sigiriya – Kandy
Early risers can hike up Pidurangala Rock for sunrise views that rival Sigiriya itself. Post breakfast, we drive to Kandy, a city nestled in the hills and rich with spiritual energy. We’ll visit the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of Sri Lanka’s holiest Buddhist shrines, and later enjoy the Kandyan cultural dance & drumming show.
DAY 4 | Kandy – Ella
Today we journey through lush landscapes towards Ella, with scenic halts at Ramboda Falls and Lover’s Leap. Along the way, we’ll visit a tea plantation and sip fresh Ceylon tea right at the source. If train tickets are available, hop on the legendary Kandy-Ella train for a ride through breathtaking tea country. Otherwise, we take the equally scenic road. Arrive in Ella by evening and breathe in that cool hill-station air.
DAY 5 | Ella
We explore Ella at its best! Start with a visit to the storybook-like Nine Arches Bridge - a perfect photo-op with trains chugging through misty valleys. On the way to Little Adam’s Peak, stop by the quirky Ella Club - grab a drink, try the jungle swing, or even zip-line through the valley if you're feeling brave. The day is a perfect blend of nature, fun, and chill vibes.
DAY 6 | Ella – Galle – Unawatuna
Time to trade the hills for the beach. On the way down south, we visit Ravana Falls for a quick dip. By afternoon, we’re at Galle Fort, a coastal colonial town layered with Portuguese, Dutch, and British history. Walk its charming streets, peek into old chapels, and catch sunset views from the ramparts. We settle in at Unawatuna for a relaxing coastal stay.
DAY 7 | Unawatuna
Today’s all about laid-back beach vibes. Swim in reef-protected waters, visit the scenic Japanese Peace Pagoda, or drop by a sea turtle hatchery for some adorable moments. If the sea is kind, join a dolphin/whale watching boat ride. Even in August, the weather here stays warm and beachy - with a chance of light drizzle to keep things cool. End the day with fresh seafood, waves in your ears, and sunset hues lighting up the sky.
DAY 8 | Unawatuna – Colombo – Departure
All good things must end - but not before one last scenic stretch. On our way back to Colombo, you can opt for a Madu River boat safari, glide through lush mangroves, or go watersports in Bentota if you’re not too sun-kissed already. Then it’s hugs, airport runs, and sweet goodbyes - with suitcases full of memories and sand that’ll never quite leave your shoes.
