Timed to coincide with the vibrant Naadam Festival, you’ll witness Mongolia’s most cherished traditions—wrestling, archery, and horse racing—in their most authentic setting. Explore ancient monasteries, dinosaur fossil sites, and ice-filled canyons, traveling by rugged 4x4 vehicles that take you deep into untouched terrain.

Day 1: Ulaanbaatar – Chonjin (55 km, 1.5 hrs) – Baga Gazriin Chuluu (281 km, 6 hrs)
Morning pick-up from your hotel and drive to Chonjin to visit the towering Genghis Khan Equestrian Statue – the tallest of its kind in the world. You can climb up into the horse’s head for panoramic views and visit the museum beneath showcasing 13th–14th century artifacts and nomadic tools. Continue to Baga Gazriin Chuluu, a granite rock formation known for its mystical landscape. Visit a crystal-filled cave where a lama once meditated, a freshwater spring said to cure blindness, and the ruins of a 17th-century Buddhist temple.

Day 2: Baga Gazriin Chuluu – Tsagaan Suvarga (250 km, 5 hrs)
Drive through the Middle Gobi province’s endless steppes towards Tsagaan Suvarga – a surreal escarpment formed by wind erosion over 10 million years. Once submerged under the sea, this area is rich in marine fossils. Great for panoramic photography and light hikes.

Day 3: Tsagaan Suvarga – Dalanzadgad (Gobi Museum, 416 km, 6 hrs) – Yol Valley
Early drive to Dalanzadgad city to visit the Gobi Museum of Nature and History. Explore exhibitions of fossils, cultural relics, and local craftsmanship. After lunch, drive to Yol Valley in the "Three Beauties of Gobi" National Park – a lush, flower-filled gorge nestled between high cliffs. Optional horseback ride available.

Day 4: Yol Valley – Khongor Sand Dunes (180 km, 5 hrs)
Journey deeper into the Gobi to reach the majestic Khongor Sand Dunes. Visit a camel herder family and learn about their nomadic life. Ride camels across the dunes, explore the Seruun Bulag green oasis, and climb the "Singing Dune" (Duut Mankhan) for sunset views.

Day 5: Khongor – Bayanzag (Flaming Cliffs) (160 km, 5 hrs)
Drive to Bayanzag, famous for its blazing red cliffs and rich deposits of dinosaur fossils – where the first dinosaur eggs were discovered. Wander among the saxual trees and explore the site.
Activities: Short film, hiking, fossil exploration (look but don’t touch!)

Day 6: Bayanzag – Ongi Monastery Ruins (160 km, 4 hrs)
Travel through the vast Ongi Steppe to the ruins of Ongi Monastery, once home to 30 temples and 4 Buddhist universities before its destruction in the 1930s. Visit the small museum and enjoy views over the river valley. Optional massage and sauna available at camp.

Day 7: Ongi – Orkhon Valley (approx. 6–7 hrs, rough track)
Drive across rolling steppe and basalt plains toward the Orkhon Valley – a UNESCO-listed cultural landscape. Visit the scenic Orkhon Waterfall (27m high), explore the volcanic-stone-filled valleys and alpine forest. Stay with a local nomadic family and take part in daily life – such as bringing in yaks or milking.

Day 8: Orkhon Valley – Ugii Lake (200–250 km, 4–6 hrs)

Day 9: Ugii Lake – Karakorum – Ulaanbaatar (approx. 380 km, 7–8 hrs)
Head to the ancient city of Karakorum, the former capital of the Mongol Empire. Visit Erdene Zuu Monastery – the oldest Buddhist monastery in Mongolia – built from the ruins of Genghis Khan’s city. Afterward, return to Ulaanbaatar.
