Meghalaya, known for its clouds and rainfall, is a tiny state in northeast India sandwiched between Assam and Bangladesh. It lives up to its name of “Abode of Clouds” during the monsoon period.
Meghalaya has so much to offer an avid traveler: undulating mountains, spectacular crystal-clear lakes, meandering rivers, dense verdant forests, gorgeous waterfalls, quaint caves, exotic flora and fauna—all of these make Meghalaya look like something straight out of a fairy tale.
Meghalaya is dotted with copious waterfalls, some gushing from great heights and some gurgling gently over moss-green rocks. Sit by the plunge pool of the gigantic waterfall and breathe in the ethereal ambience of the environment.
We guarantee you’ll have a great time in the Wonderland of Waterfalls. You’ll never get bored in spite of the numerous waterfalls, as no two waterfalls are alike. Every waterfall is different and worth going to!
We take you to some of the untouched, less-explored and seriously scenic places that will take your breath away.
D A Y 0 1 | GUWAHATI-SHILLONG
On arrival at Guwahati Airport, WANDERING SARATHY, will personally receive you and transfer you to Shillong. En route, we stop at Umiam Lake for boating and Umiam Viewpoint.
DAY 02 | SHILLONG & AROUND
We visit Mawphlang Sacred Forest, Mawsynram: the Wettest Place on Earth, and Shopping at Police Bazaar
DAY 03 | DAWKI
Take a boat ride here in the crystal-clear waters. Take a plunge into the natural pool by the river.
DAY 04: MAWLYNNONG-CHERRAPUNJI
Today, visit the village of Mawlynnong, supposedly “the Cleanest Village in Asia” and ascent the Sky Walk to get a glimpse of the plains of Bangladesh. We also visit a hidden village and a lesser-known waterfall on the way. Daredevils can go zip-lining between the mountains, which is not for the weak-hearted.
DAY 05: TREK TO DOUBLE-DECKER LIVING ROOT BRIDGE
A climb of about 3000 steps, an approximate 3 km walk, and a descent of about 2500 feet into the valley take us to this root bridge. (It takes approximately 2–3 hours to hike down the well-laid concrete pathway.) The end of the day is a tough ascent from the valley to make our way to Tyrna.
DAY 06 | CHERRAPUNJI
Visit Noh-Ka-Likai Falls, the World’s fourth-tallest waterfall, and Noh-Sngithiang Waterfalls, also known as Seven Sisters Waterfalls and a few other falls that are lesser-known to the outside world. We explore a limestone cave surrounded by a dense forest.

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colors. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”
